Winter is coming and the weather is cold. It’s time to pull out your warm sweater and seal your little bundle of joy. Hot and hearty drinks are another way to protect them from colds and retain heat in their bodies. Soups are packed with nutrients and taste great when fed lukewarm. They are easy to digest and are a concern for parents with infants.
Soup can be served to children from 6 months to 1 year old. Here are some healthy and quick recipes to prepare.
Hot soup recipes for babies from 6-8 months
1. Carrot and Muong Dal Soup
Material
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1 tablespoon yellow mung dal (divided by yellow grams), washed and dried
- Few freshly ground black pepper
How to make
- In a pressure cooker, add the water and add the chopped carrots, and moong dal.
- Cook for 2 whistles.
- Once cool, add 1/2 cup of hot water to the blender and blend it into a smooth paste.
- Thin with water if necessary.
- Season with black pepper and leave to boil in a saucepan for two minutes.
- Feet when they are lukewarm.
2. Rice soup
Material
- 3 tablespoons rice
- 9 tablespoons water
How to make
Sterilize your baby’s bowl and put it in a saucepan of warm water for five minutes before use.
- Soak 3 tablespoons of rice in water for 15 minutes before draining it.
- Add rice and 3 times the water in a saucepan.
- Cook with or without a lid.
- When the rice is fully cooked, turn off the heat.
- While it is still hot, grate the rice on a fine grater.
- You can just water the soup or add some boiled and mashed rice.
Hot Soup Recipes for 8-10 Month Babies
1. Tomato Soup / Tomato Rasam
Material
- 4 red and sweet tomatoes
- pinch of salt (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon butter
- 1/2 cup water
How to make
- Wash the tomatoes and cook them in water until it boils.
- Remove the peel and put the boiled tomatoes in the blender.
- Add some water to the puree and grind it.
- Put a saucepan on the stove and add some butter.
- Add the puree and simmer for one minute.
- Butter already contains salt so additional salt may not be necessary.
2. Chicken soup
Material
- 2 pieces of chicken thighs
- 1 small onion
- 1 small cup of vegetables (carrots, potatoes, beans)
- 1 cup water/chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon butter
How to make
- Wash the chicken and make sure it is clean.
- Cut the vegetables and onions into small pieces.
- In a pressure cooker, add butter and fried onions.
- Then add the vegetables and chicken.
- Pour enough water and cook for two whistles.
- Once cool, transfer ingredients to a blender and blend.
- Use a colander to extract the clear chicken soup.
Hot soup for babies from 10 to 12 months
1. Spinach Soup
Material
- 1 cup tightly packed spinach leaves
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped small onion
- 3 small garlic cloves, finely chopped
- a little turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder (optional)
- 2 cups of water
- Salt as required
How to make
- Rinse the spinach in water at least twice to remove any dirt and impurities.
- Finely chop garlic and onion.
- Heat a frying pan and add butter and cumin to it. crack them.
- Add chopped onion and garlic and fry until golden brown.
- Now, add chopped spinach and a pinch of turmeric powder and salt. Mix the ingredients well.
- Pour 2 cups of water and bring to a boil over medium heat for 7-10 minutes.
- Leave it aside to cool.
- Grind the ingredients in a blender to get a smooth puree.
- Strain the spinach soup. This is often optional but recommended for infants.
Hot soup for children over 1 year
Mushroom soup
Material
- 1/4 cup mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
- 4 small garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon whole wheat flour
- Salt as required
- 2 teaspoons ghee
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
- 3/4 cup full fat milk
- 1 tablespoon fresh cream
How to make
- Wash the mushrooms under running water and remove the outer layer and stems.
- Heat a thick bottomed skillet and add the chopped onion, garlic and 1 teaspoon of butter. Fry for two minutes.
- Then add the chopped mushrooms and wheat flour and fry them until they leave the water. This may take 4 minutes.
- Add whole milk, a pinch of salt and pepper powder.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat until it thickens slightly.
- Finally, add the fresh cream and mix well.
- Boil for two minutes and set aside to cool.
Tips for making soup for your child
- Wash vegetables well to get rid of mud or dirt.
- Serve the soup hot and within an hour of preparation.
- Start with a spoonful of soup and increase the amount if your child likes it.
- You can add cooked rice to the soup.
- It is best to introduce spices after 8 months and one seasoning at a time.
- If the recipe is made with formula milk, make the soup with water first and then
- Add formula.
- You should have an invite to add salt by the age of 1.
- They are great for giving lentils, vegetables and fruits to your baby.
